Back to spoon-feeding the keepers
By: Kamran | November 23rd, 2008
“Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon.” — E. M. Forster
There are few sights in the world more joyful than seeing Er Pupone exploit goalie’s decision-making abilities with a Cucchiaio. Sure, Amantino did it last season too, with a tougher one against a substantially better keeper. But therein lies the difference. For Mancini, or anyone else, you can count the number of lobs they’ve scored on your fingers. For Francesco, you can use all of your fingers — and toes for that matter — and you still won’t be anywhere near the exact number (don’t bother actually trying the enumeration, it’s pretty close to tangent of pi/2, or so I have heard). Hence, even though this one wasn’t as orgasmic as the one that still gives Julio Cesar the nightmares, it was particularly fascinating purely for nostalgic reasons.
And, bow.
